| York Minster,
N. Yorkshire
Cathedral & Metropolitan Church of St Peter
12 bells 59-1-21 in Bb
The bells of York Minster were recast in 1925 and
are currently our heaviest harmonically tuned peal.
The recording at York took place on a Sunday morning
and the band were ringing for morning service. The recording equipment
was placed opposite the cathedral on the right of the photograph.
We were initially quite concerned that there would be lots of extraneous
noise, but the only problems we had were the noise of the rubbish
collection and an old lady trying to reverse park. The two towers
of York Minster contain 32 Taylor bells and around 39 tons of bell
metal.
The band rang three leads of Littleport Little
Surprise Maximus.
The band consisted of:
1 David G Hull
2 Helen P Bradley
3 Alison L Edmonds
4 C Lynne Stretton
5 Robert W Lee
6 Adam S Greenley
7 Christine B Potter
8 David R Mitchell
9 Peter J Sanderson (C)
10 Rupert M Burgess
11 David E Potter
12 Timothy P Bradley
