Washington Cathedral

The 1963 Taylor carillon has been completely refurbished. This included replacing 31 clappers, re-wiring and general servicing of the carillon as outlined below. Our bellhangers were in the Cathedral on September 11th and heard the hijacked plane crash into the Pentagon and for the remainder of their stay, experienced first hand the devastation caused by the terrorist attacks.

An extra bell, note D#, was added to extend the existing Taylor carillon of 1934. A full service of the carillon was undertaken.

Servicings

During servicings all bell bolts are checked for tightness, all bearings and clappers are cleaned and re-lubricated, all clappers are checked for striking and re-aligned as required. The keyboard is checked, lubricated and adjusted as required. The carillon is balanced, as required, to the satisfaction of the carilloneur. Servicings were carried out on the following carillons:
