Quality bell metal ingots consisting of specific quantities of copper and tin are used to cast handbells. These ingots are heated to temperatures in excess of 1200o and poured into prepared sand moulds. When the moulds have cooled the handbells are removed and inspected for quality and tone. Only selected castings are ever used, this ensures the correct partials are always obtained. Our skilled craftsmen careful remove metal from both sides of the casting. Their systematic monitoring of the partials using sophisticated electronics in conjunction with the proven aural abilities of the bell tuner, gives precise tuning to International Standard Pitch. Five grades of finishing compounds are used to give the quality Taylor finish to every bell. When matching to customers sets, additional bells are tuned to the pitch of the existing bells to ensure compatibility. |
